Visited the National Museum of Oman today. What caught my attention was this glazed ceramic jug from the Islamic Civilization (Afghanistan) dated 6th-13th century CE. It is a moulded, glazed ceramic jar decorated with a band of floral motifs.
Other similar objects from the same period
What about the object moves you?
What attracted me was that it resembles a human figure and it fuels my imagination.
What do you think about the form of the object and surface decorations
It is slender and elegant. It has a slender cylindrical neck and a round belly to store liquids. The handle is created with twisted coils which looks like a braid.Love the glaze. It is chipped from one side which reveals that it is a terracotta jug with a green glaze. It is decorated with plant motifs
